My life  - mokumenttisarjan teoksissa Jenna Saarisen ja Stina Riikosen improvisaatioon perustuvat, tekijöiden omilla nimillä nimetyt hahmot toteuttavat itse dokumenttielokuvia eri aiheista. Lapsenomaisen suoraviivaisesti toimivat ja ajattelevat hahmot voi nähdä eräänlaisina taiteen narri-hahmoina, joiden tietämättömyyden, "virheiden" ja ohjelmaformaattiin "sopimattoman" käyttäytymisen kautta tulee näkyväksi jotain sellaista, mikä muuten jää helposti näkymättömiin länsimaisiin representaatioihin tottuneelle yleisölle. Juuri tästä syntyy myös elokuvien koomisuus. Nauraessamme hahmojen "vääränlaiselle" tai "huvittavalle" toiminnalle, voimme huomata jotain omista käsityksistämme, uskomuksistamme ja odotuksistamme naurun kohteeseen liittyen.

My life -sarja sisältää elokuvat Pariisista, Tampereesta ja Sodankylän elokuvajuhlilta. Taiteilijaduo tekee myös pop up - performansseja, joista edellisin nähtiin Galleria Huudossa 8.12.2015 osana Yhden Illan Juttu - tapahtumaa

Performances about making Documentary films 2015 ->

“My life” mocumentary film series is based on the documented video material of two characters, the journalist Stina Riikonen and the documentarist Jenna Saarinen (named by artists own names) making ambitiously documentary films about current topics. The style is straightforward, naive and highly inadequate what it comes to the etiquette of the documentary film making. Boarders of the conventions of documentary film making are blurred. The characters can be viewed sort of humorous jokers of the art form. Their “failures” and inadequate behavior can make visible the forms of representation and expectations of the audience. And because the expectations are not fulfilled there is space and possibility for comical perspective to be found. While laughing at the inadequate action of the characters, we can reveal our own perceptions and beliefs towards the target of our laugh.

My life - series includes films about Paris, Tampere and Midnight Sun Film Festival 2015. Artist duo does pop up - performances visiting current events and interesting happenings. Last performance happened at Gallery Huuto, Helsinki 8.12.2015 part of the "Yhden Illan Juttu" happening.
